JANUARY UPDATE
Hey ALL!
Welcome 2023. It’s been a wonderful start at the Academy since opening our doors in 2023. We had a wonderful break, fully rested and was ready to see all of your wonderful faces back on the mats.
Here is the news for JANUARY.

WOMEN’s CIRCLE
Our next circle is on Friday 13th January from 7pm.
Our beautiful community has already been claiming their spaces.
We’ll be gathering in circle, meditation, an introduction to Tulsi, candle making, reflection and wonderful conversations.

BERIMBAU MAKING WORKSHOP
If you missed our first berimbau workshop, here is another chance to learn how to make your own instrument.
Saturday 28th January 2023
2pm - the workshop can take between 2 to 4 hours.

FEBRUARY - CARNIVAL MONTH
We are really excited to announce we’ll be celebrating carnival at the Brazilarte Academy for the whole of February 2023.
Whilst I am still working on the final schedule I can tell you some of the details.
BrazilARTE Exhibition - We have received the art of 20 Brazilian artists, who are all part of a collective in Ceara, Brazil. We’ll be exhibiting their art for the month of February. Their artwork will be available for purchase and can be collected at the end of the exhibition.
Saturday Workshops - Every Saturday in February there will be a workshop that will celebrate carnival. We have already scheduled our Caxixi making workshop (there are a few spaces left) There will also be a mask making workshop, drumming workshop, Forro workshop & live music party. Details will be confirmed this week and published on our Instagram channel and on our EVENTS page on our website.

MEMBERS CONTENT
We’ve been listening to words spoken at the academy and we are in the planning stages of creating supportive content for you all. The content is designed to support your current training, plus an opportunity to begin archiving all of our combined 65 years of experience practicing out art.
Amongst some of the requests, we’ve had:
Capoeira song books
Berimbau rhythms
Home practice - training at home to support your academy classes
Capoeira syllabus
What else would you like to see?

BOOKING CLASSES
I feel like a stuck record, but if you don’t currently book your classes each week, please try to do so. It helps us to plan out classes and create a safe space within the academy. It also acts as a register as to who is present at each class.
If you’ve lost your membership number for booking please let me know and i can send it too you.
If you’ve forgotten how to, let me know and I can send you a refresh.
If you forget, send me a quick message and I can do it for you.
