It started with an idea…

Biscuim and Emma dreamed of creating a space where they could share their ideas and skills with others.
A safe space for all ages and abilities to learn and grow.
A space where we can support each other.

In 2014 we opened the first Brazilarte Academy.
A wholesome and friendly space which allowed people of the world to come together.
In 2020 Brazilarte Academy 2.0 was born. Moving our space into the centre of Southend to make it more accessible.

Our community is the face of our organisation.
There are gaps we haven’t yet filled and many that are holding strong.
We have many exciting plans and ideas to lead the way in regeneration of our fabulous city.

Born in Fortaleza, Ceara, Brazil.
Biscuim is at the centre of our community. Full of energy and vigour. With over 40 years of martial arts, percussion and cultural experience he has everything to share with our community.
Biscuim’s drive comes from creating equal opportunities for all to learn new skills and life experiences.
Contramestra Sininha - Co-Founder
Also known as Emma, from Essex, has been learning Brazilian Martial Arts, Dance and Music for the last 22 years.
An artist and an author, she brings a wealth of experience to our team. She is driven by her heart to create a space where everyone is welcome. Where everyone has a role and an important part to play.
